Jack Frost Ring Instructions Designed by Cheri Carlson
Images of snowmen evoke endearing memories of snow-covered holidays shared with loved ones. This adorable Jack Frost design captures the holiday spirit in an adjustable ring. Create personalized Christmas gifts for friends and family or don one yourself.
Step one: Cut an image to fit inside the frame of a silver-plated brass large circle adjustable ring. We used Nunn Design adhesive to glue the image into the frame. Next, apply a coat of Nunn Design sealant to the image. Allow the sealant to dry 20 minutes and apply a second coat. Allow the second coat to dry an additional 20 minutes. This process will insure that the image remains intact and free of watermarks.
Step two: When filling the frame with glaze, we recommend applying it in two separate layers to prevent the formation of air bubbles. Prop up the ring so that the surface of the frame sits level. If you plan to add dangles, tack a sterling silver open jump ring in place near the bottom of the frame using a dab of sealer and let dry. Keep in mind you will be applying a second coat of glaze and will want half of the jump ring exposed above the surface. Using the pour spout on the Nunn Design Gel du Soleil glaze, dispense the first layer of glaze. Allow the glaze to settle for a few minutes and pop any surfaced air bubbles with a needle.
Step three: Place the ring under a UV lamp to cure for 20 minutes. Apply the final layer of Nunn Design Gel du Soleil glaze until it forms a slight mound and repeat the same process to cure.
Step four: When constructing the dangles we used the following Swarovski Elements crystal components: one Swarovski Elements 5714 8mm star crystal bead, three Swarovski Elements 5000 6mm faceted round white alabaster beads, four Swarovski Elements 5000 4mm faceted round white alabaster beads and two Swarovski Elements 5000 4mm faceted round light Siam beads. For each dangle, thread a Swarovski Elements crystal bead onto a 24 gauge 1 1/2-inch headpin and attach to the exposed jump ring using a wrapped loop. You can thread two 4mm beads or one 6mm bead per head pin.
