| This frosty ornament is much easier to make than you would think! Unleash your creativity and make as many variations as you can think of. This ornament is a personal gift with a beautiful touch.
Tip: When working with Tacky Tape, it is best to rest your ornaments in a drinking glass as you work. If you set it down while you work, you are likely to pick up dust and pet hair that you may not want as part of your design!
Step one: Carefully run a strip of Tacky Tape in a circle along the circumference of the ornament from top to bottom.
Step two: String a six foot length of Nymo D thread on a beading needle. Wax the thread if you prefer to work with your thread waxed. Starting about one inch from the top of the ball, lay the end of the thread along the center of the tape to hold it in place. Make a mound of Toho 3-cut 12/0 blue gold luster beads. Push the beads onto the end of the needle and when you have an inch or so, run them around the top of the ornament, holding the thread in place on the tape as you go so the beads don’t run back down the ornament, but stay tight to the top.
Step three: Continue to string beads and run them along the edge of the tape. Gently push them into place as you work along the tape. When you finish one side and reach the top again, weave the thread through four or five beads to reach the other side of the tape and string a row of beads down the other side of the tape. When you reach the top again, run the string back through the seed beads at the top.
Step four: Run another line of tape perpendicular to the first (you will need to cut the center to skip over the beads). Bring the thread out at the top of that thread and string more of the blue gold luster beads along the edges of this piece of tape.
Step five: When you have the tape framed with seed beads, begin on the center of the stripes using 3mm Toho bugle beads higher-metallic blue/purple iris. Run two rows of these beads, pressing them in as you go. Continue to weave through the top row of seed beads. When you get two rows, weave over to the other piece of tape.
Step six: To finish the ornament, string two more rows of bugle beads. When you come to the cross point, simply weave the thread through the existing beads to get to the other side. You can only strengthen the design by weaving more.
Step seven: When you are done stringing beads, simply weave the beads back and forth a few times and tie a knot somewhere in the middle of a row. Pull the knot inside of a bead.
