Hunter's Moon Necklace Instructions Designed by Cheri Carlson
When the Hunter's Moon fills the night sky, a mysterious red and orange glow pierces the darkness. This striking necklace was made with those kind of mysterious autumn nights in mind. A strand of warmly glittering bicones complement the fierce spike pendant, while matte black chain and findings create a bold backdrop. Like the Hunter's Moon it's named after, this necklace is sure to add an enchanting glow to your style.
Step one: Attach a 12mm 13 gauge matte black-plated open jump ring to the Swarovski 6480 39mm spike pendant in Crystal Red Magma. For help opening and closing jump rings, please see our Jump Ring Handy Tip Video. Cut a length of 4x3mm matte black-plated classic cable chain approximately 19 inches long or to the desired length. Our chain is 20 inches long with the clasp included. Slide your pendant onto the chain.
Step two: Add a 6mm 18 gauge matte black-plated open jump ring to the 12x7mm matte black-plated trigger clasp and attach it to one end of the chain using a 5mm 18 gauge matte black-plated open jump ring. Link an 8mm 18 gauge matte black-plated open jump ring to a 6mm jump ring and attach it to the other end of the chain using a 5mm jump ring. Set this strand aside.
Step three: Make dangles for your second chain by using 2-inch 20 gauge matte black-plated 2mm ball end head pins and the Swarovski 4mm Bicone Warm Autumn Designer Blend. Thread a bicone onto a head pin and make a simple loop at the end of the head pin using the 1-step big looper. See how to use this tool in the 1-Step Big Looper Video. Take care not to squeeze your bicones with the looper, as this may cause the bicones to break. You can also learn how to make simple loops on your own, if you like. If you prefer, you can make wrapped loops, but you will need to wrap them directly to your chain.
Step four: Lay a two-foot length of 6mm matte black-plated rolo chain out on your work surface and plan where you want the dangles to be. We attached our dangles starting in the center and worked our way out on either side. We added three dangles to every other link in this area. You can color block the dangles in random numbers.
Step five: Lay this chain over the chain holding the pendant, so that it is layered the way you want. Once you are satisfied, cut the rolo chain to size. Ours is approximately 18 inches long. Attach one end of this chain to the 6mm jump ring holding the clasp using a 5mm jump ring. Attach the other end of the chain to the 6mm jump ring on the other end of the pendant chain using a 5mm jump ring.
