How to use split ring pliers

Up | Previous | Next
Many people see these funny looking pliers and are not sure what they are used for, or struggle with flying split rings as they try to pry them open with chain nose pliers. Well those days are over. In three simple steps you can learn to use the incredibly simple split ring pliers and start using split rings for those bead projects that need a little extra reinforcement.
STEP ONE
You will need a split ring, flat nose pliers, split ring pliers and the object you are attaching to the ring.
STEP TWO
Open the pliers and place the split ring on the flat side. As you close the pliers down, press the pointed side between the rings of the split ring. Once you have a grip on the split ring, you can slide it around until the end it securely open with room to add your charm, clasp, or whatever else you may be attaching.
STEP THREE
Slide the object that you are attaching to the split ring onto the open end. Hold the object in your fingers and use flat nose pliers to work the split ring around to the other side, where the object will dangle freely.
THAT IS IT!
No more run away split rings!
