How to attach a charm or dangle to a chain

Up | Previous | Next
padTools used:
Chain nose pliers
Round nose pliers
2207 Cable Chain (925CH31)
2 inch 22 gauge eye pin (SS-EP22)
Sterling silver oval jump ring (SS-OJR-OV2)
1 ½ inch 22 gauge head pin (SS-HP2X)
STEP 1
String the beads in the order you want on a headpin.
STEP 2
Using a single or wrapped loop (for instructions see the Handy Tips) attach the pin to the chain and cut the excess wire. We recommend wrapped loops for bracelets, as the dangles tend to take a bit of abuse.
STEP 3
For a charm, simply open a closed jump ring by twisting it side to side using chain nose pliers. Never open the ends by pulling vertically away from each other as this will weaken the link. Attach the charm and close again.
TIPS
Before starting make all of your links ahead of time and space them out as you would like them to look on the finished product. When attaching the links, make sure they are on the same side of the chain.
