 | | | | Swarovski flatbacks are all the rage. People are embellishing everything they can get their hands on! Many of the products that people are embellishing are made with fabric. From ballet slippers to blue jeans, pet collars to prom gowns, the possibilities are truly endless! But watch out, they are addicting, soon your whole world will be glittering!
Materials needed for the project:
- Toothpick, coffee stir stick, straw, or some other disposable, narrow tipped object.
- A small ball of beeswax (item WAX-01)
- Small piece of cardboard or other sturdy, disposable material
- Glue (for this project we used JEWELBOND)
For more precision, you may want to sketch your design ahead of time in pencil or disappearing fabric pen (available in craft stores). | | STEP 1 Roll a small ball of beeswax and attach it to the end of the straw (toothpick, whatever you choose to use). Put a small amount of glue on the cardboard. | | STEP 2 Pick up a flatback by pressing the beeswax to the top of the stone. Dip it lightly into the glue. If you pick up too much glue, you can wipe off the excess on the cardboard. | | STEP 3 Place the flatback on your design. To remove it from the straw, you just press lightly on the flatback with your fingernail or tweezers. If you are using toothpicks, you can press the rhinestone into the glue and then leave it attached to the wax until it sets for a few minutes, just use another toothpick to move onto the next stone.
Excess glue will dry clear. Have fun! Go make your world shimmer! |
