Attaching a Clasp

With chain available by the foot in many styles and finishes, there are countless ways to design necklaces and bracelets to create a variety of jewelry ideas. When you're ready to finish your chain idea, follow these quick steps to ensure a secure and professional look. First, determine the desired length of the finished chain, including the clasp. Open a jump ring by twisting it side to side using two pairs of chain nose pliers. Never open the ends by pulling vertically away from each other as this will weaken the link. Attach it to the end of the chain, and before you close, slip the quality tag on to the jump ring as well. While grasping the open jump ring with two pliers, gently twist it back together until the ends meet.
STEP ONE
This lobster clasp comes with a jump ring, which you will use for the other end of the chain. Should your clasp not come with a jump ring, you will need to purchase one. Attach the lobster clasp's jump ring to the chain in the same manor: gently twisting the jump ring open only as far as needed, looping through the last link on the chain and then twisting closed. The end result is a finished chain you've assembled yourself!
