Helen of Troy Bracelet Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
Helen of Troy was said to be the most beautiful woman in the world. A legendary beauty is certain to wear only the finest jewelry, so we created this bracelet with that in mind! Striking silvers and grays are accented with a touch of antique bronze in this multi-strand stunner. Brick stitch ends bring all of the strands together. Learn how to make this bracelet below and add legendary beauty to your style!
Step one: Make a row of nine TOHO 3mm bead cubes in antique bronze using the ladder stitch. Then, create rows with the decreasing brick stitch until you have a row of three cube beads. For help with the decreasing brick stitch technique, please see our Handy Tip. Repeat this step so that you have two brick stitch triangles.
Step two: Bring your needle and thread so that it is exiting out of the end bead on the longest row of one of your triangles. Then, string on a random pattern of beads from the Artbeads Gray Flannel Designer Blend, bicones from the Swarovski 4mm Bicone Gilt-y Pleasure Designer Blend and TierraCast antique silver 5mm coiled heishi spacers. We used the spacers on either end of the bicones we added. Make the strand long enough to fit your wrist, keeping in mind that the two triangle ends and clasp will add about 2 1/2 inches of length to your bracelet. Our strands are about 4 inches in length.
Step three: When your strand is the desired length, thread the needle through the end bead on the longest row of your other triangle. Bring your needle down through the next bead in the row and then back up through the end bead a couple of times to secure your thread. Go back down through the next bead in the row and add another strand of beads. When it is the right length, bring your thread through the next bead over in the row on the other triangle and secure. Repeat this process until there is a strand coming out of every bead on the longest row of your triangles. Weave your thread through each strand again to reinforce them. If you need to add thread at any time, please take a look at our Bead Weaving Thread Tips page for help.
Step four: Bring your needle so that it is exiting out of one of the end cube beads on the shortest row of one of your triangles. Add three seed beads to the thread, followed by the 15.4mm antique brass-plated pewter star and dots pattern round button and three more seed beads. Bring your needle down through the bead on the other end of the row. Bring your needle up through the center bead of the row and into the seed beads and button and back down into the middle seed bead. Loop around your seed beads and button several times to secure it.
Step five: On the other end of your bracelet, bring your needle so that it is exiting out of the center bead on the shortest row of your triangle. Add 20 seed beads to the thread, then bring your needle back down into the center bead. Make sure the loop fits the button, then weave into the triangle and back up to the center bead on the shortest row. Loop through the seed beads again. Repeat a couple of times to make the loop secure. Secure and trim your thread.
