Gratitude Journal with Embellishment

Turn your plain journal into an embellished gratitude journal! This is an old idea that is growing in popularity in schools, churches and even in offices. The idea is simply to write down a couple of things that you are grateful for every day. A plain journal cover is nice, but why not embellish it to give it a meaningful focus? Leave it out on the coffee table and have your whole family write in it daily, or make one just for yourself and keep it on your bedside table. When you purchase a journal for this project, you may need to make a cover for it. Working with a removable cover is the easiest way to complete the project. Be sure to check out our instructions to make the Pen with Pizzazz to go right along with it! Step one: String about 4 feet of Nymo D thread on a beading needle. Step two: From the under side of the front of the fabric cover, pull a stitch through to the front of the cover. Leave about four inches of the thread, so you can tie it off when you finish. Now string between five and eight Toho beads, followed by the G vermeil alphabet charm. Step three: Take the needle and go back up through the toho beads and sew a stitch through the fabric. Now make a stitch about 1 inch over and repeat and keep repeating step two until you spell out the word Grateful. Step four: After your last stitch, the thread should be in the under side of the front of the cover. Make sure your beads are tight on the front then tie the two ends of the thread together. Slip the cover on the journal.
