Everyone is going green! In Seattle, WA, they have begun to charge for the use of plastic bags in the stores. At Artbeads.com we think green is not only the right thing to do, but the chic thing to do. We simply can't pass up an opportunity to embellish, and what better way to show the world your creativity than with this adorable tote!
We purchased a canvas tote bag and some fabric paint at our local fabric store.
For our green theme, we chose a tree as our symbol. There are many beautiful leaf beads available, mix and match different colors and styles. It can be done in a pattern or completely random.
Step one: Wash and dry the canvas tote bag following the manufacturer's instructions. Iron if necessary. Paint or stencil a tree trunk on the tote bag using fabric paint. Allow to dry.
Step two: Sew leaf beads around the tree. For security run the thread through the bead two or three times and knot each bead.
Step three: Lay a piece of low tack masking tape as a guide. Layout the Swarovski hotfix flatback ss20 olivine rhinestones. When you are happy with the placement attach them one at a time with the Bejeweler. For help using a Bejeweler please visit the Handy Tips section in the Learning Center.
