Geometric Couture Headband Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
This gleaming Geometric Couture headband will make an impressive fashion accessory! For this project, pink, gold and crystal rhinestones are placed in a semi-random fashion to add color and style to a classic black headband.
You will need to buy a headband at your local store before you begin this project. Our headband is one inch wide at the center and tapers down to one-half inch at the tips. You can get a thinner or thicker headband depending on your personal preference. All of the rhinestones used for this project can be purchased at Artbeads.com.
Step one: We suggest laying the rhinestones on a piece of paper to get a preview of your design. To begin, choose a rhinestone as the centerpiece of the design. We used a 14x10mm cosmic crystal golden shadow flatback.
Step two: Set aside four 2028 ss16 crystal volcano flatbacks, eight 2028 ss16 crystal flatbacks and two 12x4mm cosmic crystal copper baguettes.
Step three: Place your centerpiece rhinestone on the paper and arrange the following rhinestones randomly in a one-inch-thick strip on either side of it: the remaining five ss16 crystal flatbacks, the remaining three ss16 volcano flatbacks, two 2028 ss16 crystal silver shade flatbacks, one 8x2.6mm cosmic light rose baguette, two 15x5mm cosmic crystal baguettes, one 8x6mm cosmic light rose flatback, one 10mm chessboard light rose flatback and one 10mm chessboard crystal silver shade flatback.
Step four: Frame the ends of the strip you just created with the rhinestones you set aside in Step Two. To frame an end, place three ss16 flatbacks of your choice in a vertical row. Create another vertical row next to that one using one ss16 flatback, one horizontal copper baguette and one ss16 flatback. Place another ss16 flatback at the tip of the horizontal copper baguette. Repeat this pattern on the other end.
Step five: Use Gem-Tac permanent adhesive to glue down the rhinestone you chose as your centerpiece onto the middle of the headband. For help on how to apply flatback rhinestones, please visit the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center. Using this rhinestone as a guide, continue gluing the remaining rhinestones onto the headband.
