Hone your wire working skills with this colorful furnace glass necklace.
Step one: You will want to begin by creating the three dangles for the center of the necklace. You will cut a piece of sterling silver 20 gauge half hard wire to about 6 inches. Straighten the wire with nylon jaw pliers. Make a decorative spiral on one end of the wire. For detailed instructions on this technique, please visit the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center and click on How to make a Wire Spiral. String a furnace glass bead of your color choice, followed by a Bali silver round bead with star ends and another furnace glass bead. Finish the dangle with a wrapped loop. You can also find instructions for How to make a Wrapped Loop in the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center. Repeat these steps to make a total of three dangles.
Step two: Attach the dangles to the open loop of a sterling silver double-looped link.
Step three: To complete the design simply string your beads onto a rubber necklace starting with a sterling silver tube bead followed by a dangle and repeat until you have strung all the beads.
Length: 18 inches Approximate Cost: Under $30.00 (does not include wire) Note: you can save money by using leftover furnace glass beads from another project.
