This choker is both funky and elegant. It really can be worn with a multitude of styles. It will take a bit of extra work for the beginning beader, but will be well worth the effort!
The easiest way to manage the production of this necklace is to begin with the center links first. Add the chain and clasp at the end.
Step one: Choose four pieces of furnace glass that compliment each other and are similar in diameter, the length can vary. Take one sterling silver 3-strand leaf link, run a piece of 22 gauge half hard wire through the middle loop of the link and make a wrapped loop. For detailed instructions on how to make a wrapped loop visit the Handy Tips section of our Learning Center.
Step two: On the tail of the wire, string an antique silver (pewter) clover bead cap, followed by a piece of furnace glass, and another bead cap. Finish with another wrapped loop connecting to another sterling silver 3-strand leaf link.
Step three: Repeat the process with 3 more links. On one of the links use the antique silver beaded star bead cap. In the end you should have four furnace glass beads and five sterling silver links.
Step four: Leaving the end links plain, start with the links that go between the glass beads and add the pearl dangles. First, lay the finished section out so that you can make sure you are attaching all the dangles to the same side of the necklace (what will become the bottom). Then, using 24 gauge sterling silver head pins, thread a pearl on a pin and using a wrapped loop, attach it to the bottom loop on the end of the link. Repeat this step adding two pearls to each end of the 3 center links.
Step five: With your center part complete, you can finish the necklace with chain and a clasp. In this example we used approximately 3½ inches of the 040 cable chain on each side. Attach it to the links with a sterling silver open jump ring. Attach the other end to the clasp with a jump ring as well.
Voila! You have am impressive choker to give as a gift or show off to your friends, but we think you will want to keep this one to yourself!
