Enchanted Mirror Necklace Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
It's easy to create custom pendants with the help of epoxy clay and Gilders Paste! Cynthia created a pendant that looks like a magic mirror from fairy tale stories with these two supplies on her side. You can see more of this necklace in this Artbeads Cafe Episode. Learn how to make this necklace and add enchanting epoxy clay style to your own looks!
Step one: Work some epoxy clay into the back of the Kabela Design antique brass open oval frame pendant, so that it fills the open spaces on the front of the pendant. Shape the epoxy clay on the back of the pendant so that it rests comfortably when worn. For help working with epoxy clay, please see our Handy Tip.
Step two: Add the Swarovski 14mm Solaris flatback in Crystal Silver Night to the front of the pendant by sticking it in the clay. Allow the clay to dry.
Step three: Brush the epoxy clay surrounding the Solaris flatback in the center of the pendant with Baroque-Art Gilders Paste in metallic bronze. For more instruction on working with Gilders Paste, see our Handy Tip. Brush the epoxy clay in the frame of the pendant with Baroque-Art Gilders Paste in metallic African bronze. Then, cover the epoxy clay on the back of the pendant with metallic bronze Gilders Paste. Allow to dry.
Step four: Cut a length of jewelry wire approximately 20 inches long. Attach one end of the wire to half of the TierraCast brass oxide pewter large tapered clasp set using a TierraCast 2x2mm brass oxide brass crimp tube and a 5mm antique brass-plated open jump ring. Find out more about using crimps with this Handy Tip. For help opening and closing jump rings, please see our Jump Ring Handy Tip Video.
Step five: String the following pattern onto the wire:
One Swarovski 6mm round pearl in Antique Brass
One Miyuki 11/0 metallic galvanized silver Delica
One Swarovski 6mm mini round bead in Black Diamond
One silver Delica
One Antique Brass Pearl
One Swarovski 5mm round pearl in Crystal Iridescent Green
Repeat this pattern six times. Then, string on an Antique Brass pearl, a silver Delica, a Black Diamond mini round bead, a silver Delica and an Antique Brass pearl. Slide on the pendant and make a mirror image of the beaded pattern on the other side of it.
Step six: Attach the other half of the toggle clasp to the end of the jewelry wire using a crimp tube and a jump ring.
