Embellished Wine Cork with Hill Tribe Silver

Embellish a wine cork for a fanciful and thoughtful gift. This decorated wine stopper livens up holiday table d嶰or! Wine lovers appreciate a special stopper to preserve their favorite vintage. Get a wine cork for pennies at your local wine shop or craft store and dress it up! Step one: Cut a 1 1/2-inch piece of the 1 1/16 inch Teriffically Tacky Tape and press it onto the top of the cork. Trim around the edge so the tape is only on the top of the cork. Step two: Take your Bali head pin with large granulations and slip on a couple of Toho seed beads from the reds and mattes bead mix. Follow this with the Hill Tribe hammered heart puffed bead. Hold this up to your cork to see how far the head pin will go into the cork. It should go about one inch into the cork. Trim off any excess with wire cutters. Step three: Use a thick needle or head pin to make an initial hole of one inch in the center of the cork. Squeeze some GS hypo cement into the hole. Then stick the Bali head pin with heart and seed beads into the hole. Step four: String approximately 4 feet of Nymo D white thread onto an English beading needle. Press the tail of the thread across the cork top into the tape. Run the thread to the center of the cork right next to the head pin. String the remaining Toho bead mix, or the beads of your choice, on the Nymo and spiral them around pressing them into the tape. You may choose to randomly string different kinds of beads, or separate them by style. If you separate them by style, switch bead styles between rows. When you get all the way around a row, run your thread through a few of the beads you started with. Now start the next row in reverse direction and weave back through a few beads of the row before it to secure the design. Repeat this with each row. Step five: To finish your cork, apply a strip of the 1/8 inch Terrifically Tacky Tape around the top edge of the side of the cork. String a row or two of seed beads to that edge. When you complete the pattern, weave back and forth through the design in a zigzag style a few times to secure the thread. Tie a knot in the end, pull it into a bead, and trim off the excess.
