Desert Trail Bracelet Instructions Designed by Cheri Carlson
Dusty colors of the desert and a fun loomed pattern give this seed bead bracelet a Southwest feel. With the Ricks Beading Loom, you can create all kinds of fun patterns. See more ideas for creating patterns with this loom in this Artbeads Cafe episode.
Step one: Step one: Follow the manufacturer's instructions on how to warp the Ricks beading loom. Watch this quick video tutorial to see how to set up the loom. This video may also be helpful when setting up the loom. Decide on your bracelet length and set the loom length for the number of rows needed. The bracelet is seven beads/rows wide, so warp the loom for seven rows. Make sure to leave a warp or weft tail long enough at the start of the bracelet so that after tying threads off you can use it to sew on the clasp.
Step two: Follow the pattern in this PDF diagram when adding TOHO 8/0 round seed beads to the loom. Depending on how accurate you set the length of the loom or how tight you weave, your piece could come out a row shorter or longer. If you reach the end of your bracelet and still want to add a row or two to the pattern, see this Handy Tip. This technique will allow you to add rows to the beginning of the bracelet, too. If you want to make your bracelet a different size from ours, refer to the diagram and adjust accordingly. Please see our Handy Tip on how to add weft thread to the loom if you run short part of the way through your project.
Step three: To add the TierraCast antique copper-plated pewter flower of life button, make sure your thread is coming out of the third seed bead on the end of your bracelet. Add two terra cotta seed beads to the thread, followed by the button. Loop the thread around the button several times, then add two more seed beads to the thread. Bring your thread through the third seed bead from the other side of the bracelet. Loop back through the beads and the button several times to reinforce. Then secure and trim the thread.
Step four: To add the loop, make sure your thread is coming out of the third seed bead on the other end of your bracelet. Add a turquoise seed bead, followed by a sunset orange seed bead, two turquoise beads, two terra cotta beads, a dark copper bead, two terra cotta beads, an opaque light beige bead, a turquoise bead, a sunset orange bead, a turquoise bead, a beige bead, two terra cotta beads, a dark copper bead, two terra cotta beads, and two turquoise beads. Bring your thread back through the first sunset orange bead and add a turquoise bead. Bring your thread through the third seed bead from the other side of the bracelet. Loop back through the beads to reinforce. Then secure and trim your thread.
