Decorative Pen Instructions Designed by Teri McCamish
We couldn't just put the guest book out with an ordinary pen for Maggie's wedding. We had to make a fun beach-themed pen for the guests to use. And unlike those traditional, big feather pens, Maggie can set this on her desk to remind her of her wedding when the big day has passed! The base was made by hot-gluing shells together.
Step one: Apply Gem-Tac to the bottom of the pen and smear it over about half of the pen so that it is coated. Wrap the silk cord tightly around the pen. Repeat the process for the other half of the pen and trim any excess cording. Let dry for approximately 20 minutes.
Step two: When the adhesive has dried, run another band of Gem-Tac around the bottom of the pen and wrap the Swarovski powder rose cotton yarn around the base two or three times. Now wrap the yarn around the pen with about 1/8 inch spaces. Crisscross it back over itself and make it look full. When you get to the top of the pen, apply a dab of glue to the tip of the pen on the silk cord. Wrap the yarn over the glue making sure it sticks.
Step three: Repeat step two using the peridot cashmere yarn, but make the spaces a bit wider.
Step four: Cut the dangling yarn to the desired length. Apply a drop of glue to the end of the yarn and rub it between your fingers to make sure the Swarovski beads don't fall off the end of the yarn.
