With its sparkling Swarovski crystals and pastel heart beads, this creative ring is just what you need to add a playful accent to your hand this Valentine's Day. The beauty of this design is its customizability. Use the beads we've suggested or choose your own selection for a ring with a completely different appearance.
Step one: Measure the circumference of your finger using a thin piece of paper. Cut the paper to the length of that measurement and tape it onto your work area. This paper is the size needed to form the band of the ring using 18-gauge half hard sterling silver wire. You'll need to leave a little extra wire on both sides of this measurement to create simple loops, which will form the top of the ring.
Step two: Create a simple loop at each end of the wire. See the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center for help creating a simple loop. Use chain nose pliers to bend both of the loops downward at a 45 degree angle. Starting just after the first simple loop, begin wrapping 24-gauge half hard round sterling silver wire around the 18-gauge wire. Continue wrapping until the whole band is evenly covered with the 18-gauge wire.
Step three: Wrap the band that you just created around a ring mandrel or other cylindrical object so that the band forms a circular shape and the sides of the simple loops are almost touching at the top of the band. If necessary, you can use nylon jaw pliers to better align the loops. Attach the simple loops together using a sterling silver open jump ring.
Step four: Thread a Swarovski 5000 2mm faceted round in Crystal AB onto a 24-gauge sterling silver 1-inch head pin. Create a small wrapped loop at the top of the headpin to form a crystal dangle. See the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center for help creating a wrapped loop. Thread a 6mm pearlized light rose glass heart onto a 1 1/2-inch head pin with crystal CZ. Begin forming a wrapped loop above the heart. Before closing the loop, thread the loop through the wrapped loop of the crystal dangle and through the jump ring at the top of the ring band. Close the loop.
Step five: Repeat step four for the 6mm pearlized cream glass heart, but add an extra crystal dangle to the loop before closing it. Repeat step four for the dangle featuring the 6mm pearlized lavender glass heart.
