Copper Canyon Necklace Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
Earthy elegance defines this multi-strand necklace. The pebble-like gemstone beads combine perfectly with the antique copper chain and findings, while the Swarovski bicones add just the right amount of sparkle. This necklace is sure to put you in mind of Arizona deserts filled with red canyons and dusty cactus plants. It will add Southwest sophistication to casual and formal styles alike!
Step one: Cut a length of jewelry wire approximately 9 inches long. Loop the end around an 8mm copper 20 gauge open jump ring using a 2x2mm copper crimp tube and crimp shut. Please see our Handy Tip Video for more information on how to use a crimp tube.
Step two: String on the following pattern:
One TierraCast antique copper 7mm nugget heishi spacer
One Swarovski 6mm XILION bicone in Light Smoked Topaz
One Dakota Stones amazonite 6mm matte round bead
One 6mm Light Smoked Topaz bicone
One hieshi spacer
One Dakota Stones Red Creek jasper 12x16mm matte nugget bead
Repeat the pattern four times and finish the strand with a spacer, followed by a Light Smoked Topaz bicone, an amazonite round bead, another Light Smoked Topaz bicone and a spacer. Attach the end of the strand to a jump ring using a crimp tube.
Step three: Cut another length of jewelry wire approximately 12 inches long. Attach one end to a jump ring using a crimp tube and string on the pattern from step two seven times. Finish the strand with a spacer, a Light Smoked Topaz bicone, an amazonite round bead, another Light Smoked Topaz bicone and a spacer. Attach the end of the strand to a jump ring using a crimp tube.
Step four: Cut a length of the antique copper-plated textured double oval link chain approximately 7 inches long. Attach your beaded strands to one end of the chain, making sure the shorter strand is above the longer strand. For help opening and closing jump rings, please see our Handy Tip Video. Attach one half of the JBB antique copper-plated pewter star-shaped flower toggle clasp directly to the other end of the chain. The chain links can be opened easily. Repeat this step to finish the other half of the necklace.
