Canyon Flower Pendant Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
Construct your own stylish pendant in minutes with this simple, yet stunning "Canyon Flower" design. Featuring a chic floral background, this pendant is accented with brilliant crystals and filigree, offering both vintage charm and modern flare.
Step one: In order to construct this design, we purchased balsa wood, floral-patterned fabric in earth tones and opaque blue acrylic paint from a craft store. You can also use leftover fabric from craft projects or from old clothing. Cut a 1x1 inch piece of wood, and a 1x1 inch piece of fabric. Paint the balsa wood with paint and allow to dry per the instructions on the bottle.
Step two: Brush Nunn Design gel du soleil glaze over one side of the wood. Carefully rest the fabric over the glaze and press gently to adhere it to the wood. Place under a UV lamp and allow to dry 20 minutes.
Step three: Next, apply a layer of glaze over the fabric. Use a jewel setter to place Swarovski SS9 XILION rose flatbacks in crystal on the glaze in places that accent the floral design on your fabric. Place an antique brass bell flower filigree pendant on the glaze so that the ring and stem hang over the top-center of the square, this will serve as the bail for your pendant. Pop any surfaced air bubbles with a needle. Place under a UV lamp and allow to dry 20 minutes.
