Jewelry FAQ : Quad and Hex Beads
Q: What are quad and hex beads?
A: Quad and hex beads are a brand new product made with ball chain. Ball chain is a very common product that can be made out of many different metals. It has many uses outside jewelry such as the chain that connects the pen to the counter at the bank. In this case, sterling silver ball chain has been soldered together in a square (for a quad bead) or a hexagon (for a hex bead). Then they are cut to a certain length, which are defined by how many rows the bead has. The bead is strung through the large hole in the middle; the little holes on the ends of the beads are where the ball chain would have connected to the next ball, and are not visible once the bead is strung. Because of their unique construction, quad and hex beads not only have a unique look, but are flexible and curve to fit the contour of the wearer's body.
