Black Chain and Pearls Larriette Instructions Designed by Artbeads
The polyester chain used in this necklace is a great alternative to metal chain. It is light weight and combined with the pearls and beads, hangs beautifully. We used the black chain in our piece; however it comes in a variety of other colors for endless possibilities. For this necklace you will make sections or components and then connect them together. The components from step one will be connected with the simple loop you make on the head pin. All the other components will be connected using crimp tubes. Step one: On a 2-inch copper head pin string one 5mm Swarovski copper pearl, one 4mm Swarovski black pearl, one 10 mm Swarovski gold pearl, then reverse the pattern. Finish with a simple loop. For help making a simple loop please see the Handy Tips section. Make another component and set both aside.
Step two: Clamp a bead stopper to one end of a 6 inch piece of soft flex .014 clear jewelry wire. String one 2x2mm gold-filled crimp tube, one 4mm Swarovski black pearl, one 5mm Swarovski copper pearl, one 11x9 mm matte jet w/Picasso oval, one 6mm Swarovski black pearl, one 10mm Swarovski gold pearl, one 6mm Swarovski black pearl and one 11x9mm matte jet w/Picasso oval, then reverse the pattern. Clamp with a bead stopper. Make another component and set both aside.
Step three: Clamp a bead stopper to one end of a 4½ inch piece of soft flex. String one 2x2mm gold filled crimp tube, one 4mm Swarovski black pearl, one 5mm Swarovski copper pearl, one 11x9mm matte jet w/Picasso oval, one 6mm Swarovski black pearl and one 10mm Swarovski gold pearl, then reverse the pattern. Clamp with a bead stopper. Make another component and set aside.
Step four: Cut the black polyester chain as follows: two 3½ sections and two 6 inch sections, leaving approximately one 11 inch section. Connect together in this order: One component from step one, one 6 inch piece of black polyester chain, one component from step two, one 3½ in piece of black polyester chain, one component from step three, one 11 inch piece of black polyester chain. Reverse the pattern as you work toward the other end of the necklace.
