As Maggie heads off to her honeymoon, we want to send her in style. We used charms reminiscent of the beach wedding and hearts for the new bride. You can use any beads and charms you like. Pewter would be an affordable, tarnish resistant option as well. Avoid the water when wearing these flip flops.
Step one: Measure the chain to fit along the top of your flip-flops. This chain is made with open links and can be separated; there is no need to cut it. Create two segments of the desired length.
Step two: On only one side of the chain, attach the charms using open jump rings at random intervals. Center the heart (or your focal charm) along the toe thong.
Step three: String the other beads in random combinations and add them to the chain in between the charms using simple loops. We did about 24 dangles for a size 6 shoe. You may want to add more.
Step three: When the chain is embellished to your liking, run a line of E6000 adhesive along the inside edge of the top of the flip flop. If you cover the entire surface, your headpins will stick and not dangle well. Let the glue dry for a couple of minutes before laying the chain carefully along the top of the sandal. Hold in place until it will stay on its own. This could take several minutes.
Allow the shoes to dry at least 24 hours before wearing them. Do not leave them in a hot car as excessive heat could re-melt the glue.
