American Style Instructions Designed by Cheri Carlson
These two bracelets pair sweet flower beads with trendy leather for a youthful effect. Designer Cheri gathered inspiration from the summertime seasons of her childhood and created designs that transported her back to simpler times. Make these bracelets for yourself and feel that American summer style call to you!
Step one: You are going to start by punching holes in the 9x.5-inch tan leather bracelet. We have created a PDF template of where to punch the holes for this bracelet. Simply print the template out, place it over your bracelet and punch the holes accordingly. For more help with using a hole punch, please see our Handy Tip.
Step two: Cut one yard of The BeadSmith Super-Lon bead cord. Thread it down through hole 1 in your bracelet, leaving half of the yard as a tail. You can tape the tail in place to keep it from moving. Follow the thread path outlined in our template to start decorating your bracelet. It will start by going up through hole 2 and then down through hole 3 to create a diagonal line. Then the thread will go back up through hole 2 and back down through hole 3 (Please note that we are creating only the first half of the criss cross pattern. We will create the other half in step four).
Step three: Take your thread up through hole 5. Once you go through this hole, add a C-Koop Beads small 5 petal sapphire enameled copper flower bead to your thread, followed by a Swarovksi 4mm round pearl in Ivory. Take your thread back through the flower and down through hole 5. Continue the pattern from the template until you reach the end of the bracelet.
Step four: Now you are going to use your tail to cross over the design. Follow the same pattern from the template, only go through the opposite holes in the set of four holes. Instead of taking your thread through hole 5 for the flowers, just weave it through the two threads coming out of the hole on the back side of the bracelet in order to get to the next set of four holes. Continue this pattern until you reach the end of the bracelet.
Step five: Tie the two ends together in a square knot and secure with adhesive. Tie another knot and add more adhesive. Tuck the loose ends in and trim.
Step one: Install snap fasteners to the ends of the 9x1-inch white leather bracelet using the Tandy Leather Easy to Do line 24 snaps and setter. Check out our Handy Tip for more information on how to set snaps in leather.
Step two: Punch three sets of two holes close together in the center of the bracelet. Each set of two should be about 3/4 of an inch apart.
Step three: Use the Griffin bead cord in jade green to add a C-Koop Beads lime green enameled copper leaf charm to the center set of two holes. Loop the thread around the holes and add another leaf charm so that it points out in the opposite direction of the first leaf charm. Loop the thread around again and add a C-Koop Beads large 5 petal mustard enameled copper flower bead followed by a C-Koop Beads small 5 petal lime green enameled copper flower bead and a Swarovski 8mm crystal globe bead in Crystal. Take your thread back down through the two flower beads and the holes. Secure by knotting the thread between the leather and the flower. You can secure the thread with adhesive if desired.
Step four: Use the bead cord to add a leaf charm to the left set of two holes. Loop the thread around the two holes and knot it on the top side of the bracelet. Add a C-Koop Beads medium 5 petal pink enameled copper flower bead, followed by a crystal globe bead. Take the thread back down through the flower and one of the holes and then back up through the other hole. Secure the design by knotting the thread between the leather and the flower.
Step five: Repeat step four to create a flower design on the last set of two holes.
