A Rare Fail for SwarovskiMarch 8, 2014
I love Swarovski crystal and work almost exclusively with it. In general, I love the globe beads -- they're beautiful little crystal balls!
These particular ones (iridescent green globe beads), however, are in my opinion very awkward looking, and I think rather ugly. The finish isn't really green or iridescent; it looks more to me like a dark grey with a greenish tinge.
That's fine for some styles of bead, but the globe beads only have a coating on a small portion of the bead. So, the iridescent green globe beads look like clear crystal balls with a dark grey splotch on on one side. Now, if that's what you need for your project, then great -- go for it! Just don't expect to get a bead that is either iridescent or green.
By the way, I also ordered some faceted round iridescent green beads, and those were much prettier. I think the ugliness of the iridescent globe bead is because the beads are smooth and have no facets to reflect pretty green colors, so all you get is an ugly greenish-black-grey hue on one side of the bead.
